The Excise Department has initiated strict actions to curb the sale of intoxicating substances near schools by targeting businesses operating close to educational institutions. Any business found selling intoxicants within 100 meters of a school will face license cancellation and possible closure. This move comes after assessments revealed that existing restrictions have failed to prevent drug mafias from targeting school students.
To enforce this policy effectively, the Excise Department plans to collaborate closely with local authorities, sending official communications to local body secretaries urging prompt action against violators. Additionally, officials will conduct meetings with the principals of all schools across the state before May 30, aiming to strengthen communication and monitoring efforts. School heads will be encouraged to report any suspicious or abnormal behavior among students that might indicate substance abuse, helping authorities intervene early.
The police department is also stepping up its vigilance, especially with the commencement of the new academic year, to implement stringent anti-drug operations. This comprehensive approach highlights the government’s commitment to creating a safer environment for students by restricting easy access to drugs and intoxicants near schools. Through coordinated efforts between the Excise Department, local bodies, schools, and law enforcement, the initiative seeks to protect young minds from the harmful influence of intoxicants and promote healthier communities.
