Bollywood Actress Alia Bhatt’s ex-assistant arrested for cheating of Rs 77 lakh

Vedika allegedly forged Alia Bhatt’s signature and embezzled Rs 76.9 lakh for two years.

Alia Bhatt’s former secretary, Vedika Shetty, has been arrested by Mumbai’s Juhu Police for allegedly committing fraud worth Rs 77 lakh with Bhatt. The case was registered a few months ago based on a complaint by the actor’s mother, Soni Razdan. Vedika Shetty was arrested in Bengaluru nearly five months after the FIR was registered.

She was presented in court on July 8, where she was remanded to police custody till July 10. Juhu Police have booked Vedika Prakash Shetty under sections 316(4) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused had been absconding since the fraud came to light.

Vedika allegedly forged Alia Bhatt’s signature and embezzled Rs 76.9 lakh for two years. While the investigation is underway and more details are awaited, Alia or her team has not issued any statement regarding the matter as of now. Alia Bhatt’s production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions, was launched in 2021 with the vision of creating “happy films” that focus on real, timeless, and heartwarming stories.

The company’s debut project, ‘Darlings’, was co-produced with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia will next be seen in the Spy Universe movie, ‘Alpha’. The film also stars Sharvari Wagh in the lead and will be released on December 25, 2025. Besides this, Bhatt will soon also reunite with her actor-husband Ranbir Kapoor for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
