Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid provided an update on Sanju Samson’s injury, confirming that the team is closely monitoring the wicketkeeper-batter’s recovery from a side strain. Samson has missed three matches so far in the current IPL season, including games against Lucknow Super Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Titans. He is also expected to miss the upcoming match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
Dravid emphasized that while Samson is recovering well, the franchise is taking a cautious approach to avoid any further complications with the injury. “It’s a side strain, and these types of injuries can be tricky,” Dravid said, highlighting the need to avoid rushing the recovery process. “We don’t want to harm him in the long run,” he added.
The coach explained that the team is evaluating Samson’s condition on a daily basis, with continuous updates on his availability. The franchise aims to ensure that the captain is well-looked after and does not push his recovery prematurely. Samson had earlier made a successful comeback from a finger surgery following an injury during the T20I series against England in February, which had forced him to play early IPL matches as a specialist batter.
Dravid reassured fans that the team is committed to ensuring Sanju Samson’s full recovery, taking all necessary precautions to protect his long-term fitness. While it’s uncertain when the RR captain will return to full action, the franchise’s priority remains his well-being, aiming for a careful return once he is fully fit. The Royals are hopeful that with time, Samson will be able to resume his duties as the team’s leader without compromising his health, keeping the focus on both his recovery and the team’s performance.
