Munnar’s picturesque tea estates are set to become even more accessible with the introduction of a brand-new double-decker bus service, soon to be launched in the second week of January. The service, announced by Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar, is part of KSRTC’s highly regarded Royal View project aimed at enhancing the tourism experience in Kerala. The bus service will take visitors on a delightful journey through Munnar’s scenic landscapes, offering panoramic views of the lush tea plantations and natural beauty.
This double-decker bus is designed with unique features to elevate the travel experience. It is equipped with transparent glass panels on the roof and sides, providing passengers with unobstructed views of the stunning surroundings. The bus is also equipped with special lighting that enhances the experience, especially on evening rides. The upper deck can accommodate 38 passengers, while the lower deck provides comfortable seating for 12.
Additional amenities include a high-quality music system, a public information system, and provisions for refreshments, such as drinking water, snacks, and mobile charging units. The service will also ensure a comfortable and enjoyable ride with all the necessary conveniences. The bus has already undergone a trial run in Munnar, and it is expected to be inaugurated before January 15, offering tourists a memorable way to explore the scenic beauty of the region.
