Congress Leaders to Hold Crucial Talks with P.V. Anvar on UDF Entry

UDF insists on exclusion of Trinamool Congress; Political future of Anvar under focus during Thiruvananthapuram meeting

A crucial discussion is scheduled today in Thiruvananthapuram regarding P.V. Anvar’s potential entry into the United Democratic Front (UDF). Senior Congress leaders will meet Anvar to deliberate on the conditions of his induction, with a clear stand that any association with the Trinamool Congress must be severed for UDF inclusion to proceed.

The outcome of this meeting is expected to significantly influence Anvar’s political direction. Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan, KPCC President K. Sudhakaran, and Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala are among those participating in the discussion, which is set to begin at 10 AM. Congress leadership has unanimously opposed any UDF alliance involving the Trinamool Congress, citing political incompatibility, and intends to convey these reasons firmly to Anvar.

The Congress is likely to propose two options: Anvar can either form a new political outfit and align with UDF or extend his support to the front from outside. If Anvar refuses to part ways with the Trinamool Congress, further discussions are expected to be prolonged. UDF allies have also advised the Congress not to give in to any undue demands from Anvar.

This negotiation comes at a time when the Congress is gearing up for a possible by-election in Nilambur. The party aims to announce its candidate on the very day the by-election is declared, making today’s meeting a key step in finalizing its strategy and alliances.
