Dental Student Admitted with Nipah-Like Symptoms Tests Negative; Stable Condition Confirmed

A dental college student who displayed symptoms resembling Nipah virus has tested negative for the disease. The tests were conducted at the Institute of Advanced Virology (IAV) in Thonnakkal after the student was admitted to the Medical College Hospital. Authorities have confirmed that the student is in stable condition and was suffering from a regular fever.

The patient had voluntarily undergone isolation due to concerns about possible exposure to fruits that may have been contaminated by bats.

In a separate development, a health worker in Kozhikode tested positive for the Nipah virus on Wednesday. So far, Kozhikode has reported a total of five Nipah cases, with two fatalities and three individuals currently receiving treatment.
