Veteran Telugu film producer Singanamala Ramesh Babu has recently spoken out about the massive financial losses he suffered while backing Mahesh Babu’s “Khaleja” (2010) and Pawan Kalyan’s “Komaram Puli” (2010). He claims that these films collectively caused him losses exceeding ₹100 crore, and that neither actor extended any support after the films failed at the box office.
His statements come in the wake of a 14-year-long legal case, which was recently dismissed by the Nampally court. Following the verdict, Ramesh Babu decided to share his experiences, revealing that Komaram Puli’s budget escalated uncontrollably due to various reasons, including Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments with the Praja Rajyam Party at the time. Similarly, Khaleja also failed to recover its high production costs, leading to further financial strain on the producer.
Both films were produced under Kanakaratna Movies, with “Khaleja” directed by Trivikram Srinivas and “Komaram Puli” helmed by S. J. Suryah. The producer’s statements have stirred widespread debate among Tollywood fans, with many speculating whether Mahesh Babu or Pawan Kalyan will address his claims.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan, who is now the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the Jana Sena Party, is gearing up for his next film, “OG”, alongside Emraan Hashmi and Priyanka Mohan, directed by Sujeeth. On the other hand, Mahesh Babu is preparing for a high-budget action-adventure film directed by S.S. Rajamouli, with reports suggesting that Priyanka Chopra may play the female lead.
Ramesh Babu’s revelations have sparked conversations within the industry, raising questions about financial accountability in Tollywood. It remains to be seen if the actors will respond to the allegations.
