Attukal Pongala Festival 2025: Actor Jayaram to Lead Pancharimelam; Full Schedule Released

Iconic Festival Begins March 5 with Rituals, Cultural Programs, and Mega Pancharimelam

The Attukal Pongala festival, celebrated at the Attukal Bhagavathi Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, will commence on March 5, 2025. Known for holding the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of women at a religious event, the festival will feature a series of rituals, cultural programs, and performances.

The festivities begin with the Kappuketti Kudiyiruthal ritual at 10 am on March 5, followed by the aduppuvettu ritual at 10:15 am on March 13,which is the main festival day. The pongala nivedyam will take place at 1:15 pm, with the idol of the Goddess returning to the sanctum sanctorum at 8 am on March 14. The festival concludes with the Kuruthi Tharpanam at 1 am.

Actor Jayaram will lead a mega pancharimelam performance featuring 101 percussion artists on March 9 at 6 pm. Cultural programs at the Amba and Ambika auditoriums will run daily from 5 am, with performances by renowned artists like Dr. Mano, Harishankar, and Malavika Sunder.

Sub-collector OV Alfred has issued guidelines for loudspeaker usage, ensuring noise levels do not exceed 10 decibels above ambient standards. The festival’s detailed schedule includes rituals like Palliyunarthal, Abhishekam, and Deeparadhana, alongside musical and cultural events.

The Attukal Pongala festival is a vibrant celebration of faith, culture, and tradition, drawing devotees and artists from across the globe.
