Kunnamangalam: Malabar Milma has announced a significant relief package of Rs 15 crore to support dairy farmers by covering additional milk procurement and offering fodder subsidies. This decision, approved by the Malabar Region Union Governing Council, is projected to benefit around 100,000 dairy farmers across the Malabar region.
To provide immediate relief, the council agreed to an extra Rs 1 per litre for milk produced in the months of April, May, October, November, and December of 2024. Additionally, farmers supplying high-quality milk to Anand model dairies will see an increase in the price from Rs 45.93 to Rs 46.93 per litre.
As part of its ongoing efforts, Malabar Milma will supply Milma Gomati Gold fodder at Rs 150 per 50 kg bag, along with Total Mixed Ration (TMR) feed in pellet form, from November 2024 through March 2025. These feeds, produced by Malabar Milma’s own Malabar Regional Dairy Farmers (MRDF), will be subsidized by Rs 1 per kg, totaling Rs 6 crore in assistance to help farmers offset production costs and sustain milk output.
With this additional Rs 15 crore, Malabar Milma’s total support for the 2024-25 fiscal year reaches Rs 42.20 crore, marking a continued commitment to enhancing the resilience of the three-tier dairy cooperative system and helping local dairy farmers manage rising expenses.
