Foreign visitors to Kerala now have a special opportunity to witness one of the state’s grandest cultural spectacles—Thrissur Pooram—from a reserved gallery designed exclusively for them. The much-anticipated festival, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, will be held at the Vadakkunnathan Temple in Thrissur.
To provide an enhanced viewing experience, especially of the iconic ‘Kudamattam’ umbrella exchange ceremony, a special foreigners’ pavilion is being constructed near the Thekke Gopuram (Southern Gateway) of the temple. Authorities have planned seating arrangements for approximately 120 guests in this dedicated gallery.
Booking Process:
Foreign nationals interested in securing a seat can do so by visiting the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) office located on Palace Road, Thrissur. Alternatively, bookings can be made by contacting the DTPC Secretary directly at +91 9496361440 or landline 0487-2320800.
To confirm the reservation, tourists must present valid documents such as their passport, visa, and other relevant ID. Entry into the pavilion begins at 12 noon on the day of the festival.
It’s important to note that while tickets are completely free, the pavilion does not offer any additional services such as refreshments. Visitors are encouraged to make necessary arrangements in advance to ensure a comfortable viewing experience.
