Thrissur: A heartbreaking incident unfolded at the Peechi Dam reservoir on Monday, claiming the life of a 16-year-old girl and leaving three others in critical condition. Aleena, a resident of Pattikad, succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at the Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur.
The injured—16-year-olds Ann Grace and Irene, both from Pattikad, and 12-year-old Nima from Peechi—remain under intensive care. A team of medical specialists, including experts from Thrissur Medical College, has been assigned to manage their treatment.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday when the group of friends, visiting Peechi for church feast celebrations, faced an unforeseen crisis. While attempting to save a friend who accidentally fell into the reservoir, all four ended up in the water.
The group comprised Aleena, Ann Grace, Irene, Nima, and Hima, the latter being Nima’s elder sister. Their joy-filled day quickly turned into a devastating accident, shocking the local community.
