Kerala High Court Orders Fresh Probe into Violinist Balabhaskar’s Death

The Kerala High Court has instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct a further investigation into the death of renowned violinist Balabhaskar. The directive came in response to a plea filed by Balabhaskar’s father, K C Unni. While previous investigations by the crime branch and the CBI deemed his death as an accident, Unni contested these findings, suggesting there might be a conspiracy involved. The court has given the CBI a three-month deadline to complete the investigation and explore any potential conspiracy angles.

Balabhaskar tragically lost his life in a road accident that occurred near Pallipuram on September 25, 2019, while traveling with his daughter from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram. The case took a complicated turn as Balabhaskar’s parents alleged foul play, pointing fingers at individuals linked to the gold smuggling case, including Prakash Thampy and Vishnu Somasundaram, both friends of the violinist. The dispute further deepened over who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Despite initial conclusions of accidental death, suspicions and disagreements have prompted the Kerala High Court to order a fresh investigation to ascertain the truth behind the violinist’s demise.
