Cyclonic Storm in Bay of Bengal Brings Heavy Rainfall to Kerala Until September 6

A cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Kerala until September 6, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). In response to this, a yellow alert has been issued for various districts during this period.

Here is the breakdown of the alerts:

  • September 2, 2023: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki
  • September 3, 2023: Thiruvananthapuram
  • September 4, 2023: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki
  • September 5, 2023: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha

The IMD also forecasts the possibility of light to moderate rain in several districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam, in the next three hours.

Authorities are concerned about the potential formation of a new cyclone vortex in the northwest Bay of Bengal by Sunday. This raises the likelihood of a low-pressure system intensifying in the next 48 hours, bringing strong rains and winds to Kerala.
