Rain Continues in Seven Kerala Districts, High Waves Pose Risk

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued predictions indicating ongoing rainfall in several districts of Kerala, accompanied by potential high waves along the coast. Specifically, Thiruvananthapuram is expected to experience moderate rain with thunder, lightning, and winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour.

As part of the swell waves phenomenon, coastal areas may witness waves measuring between 0.5 to 1.2 meters, with sea surges expected until 11:30 PM. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center advises caution for fisherfolks and coastal residents.

To ensure safety, authorities recommend the following measures:

Avoid venturing into hazardous areas near the rough seas.

Secure fishing boats in harbors, maintaining a safe distance between vessels to prevent collisions and safeguard equipment.

Refrain from engaging in beach activities or sea ventures entirely.

According to IMD forecasts, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in various districts over the next five days:

05-04-2024: Thiruvananthapuram to Idukki

08-04-2024: Thiruvananthapuram to Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad
