In Kerala, a boat trip turns tragedy as three students drown.

On July 5, Monday, three young pupils, including two brothers, drowned in Kaithapuzha lake beneath the Thevara-Kundannoor bridge in Kerala’s Ernakulam after a fibre boat crashed. “The accident happened as they were supposedly on their way to a friend’s residence. They were students between the ages of 18 and 22, according to the police. The deceased have been identified as Ashna Nawas (22) and her younger brother Adil Nawas (18), both from the region of Perumbavoor, as well as a friend Ebin Paul (20). Another person on board the boat, Praveen, a native of Konthuruthy in Ernakulam, was rescued by locals. The event occurred around 4.30 p.m., as they were driving from Nettoor to Konthuthuruthy.

The boat, according to reports, was rather small and capsized around 15 metres from where they boarded. The catastrophe is thought to have been caused by heavy undercurrents, strong winds, and the small size of the boat. The Panangad police have opened an investigation into an unnatural death. According to the police, the bodies are being housed at the Ernakulam General Hospital. “They were about to give someone a birthday cake when the catastrophe occurred,” a police officer told TNM. Two of them were said to have arrived in Nettoor to pick up the woman and her brother and transport them to Konthuruthy.Samu, a local who lives near the accident site, said his daughter raised an alarm when she noticed the tragedy. Samu and his daughter were watering plants when the latter noticed the drowning of a young man. “She sounded the alarm, and other lads playing nearby also sounded the alert. Soon after, a man arrived on the scene and saved one victim “Samu was reported in the Times of India as saying.
