Former Parliament Building Renamed ‘Samvidhan Sadan’ as New Parliament House Takes Over

The former Parliament building has been officially renamed ‘Samvidhan Sadan,’ announced Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as Parliament’s activities transitioned to the new building. Additionally, the Speaker indicated that terms like ‘House,’ ‘Lobby,’ and ‘Galleries’ will now refer to the new Parliament House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously suggested the renaming during a function held in the old Parliament building’s Central Hall, emphasizing that the historic building’s prestige should endure under the new name. Members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha gathered in the Central Hall for the renaming ceremony.
