Google Flights: Your Guide to Booking Affordable Airfare for Christmas and Beyond

Google Flights now provides support for finding affordable flight tickets, offering valuable insights based on five years of airfare data. Travelers can make informed decisions about when to book tickets at the lowest rates. Google suggests that midweek bookings, particularly on Mondays to Wednesdays, tend to have fares that are 12-20 percent cheaper compared to weekend or Sunday bookings. Additionally, Google advises travelers to consider layover flights as they can be up to 20 percent cheaper than non-stop options.

Furthermore, Google Flights offers a unique feature: if a traveler books a ticket based on its advice and the fare subsequently drops, Google will reimburse the traveler for the price difference using Google Pay (currently in trial in the US). According to Google’s predictions, the next peak in flight ticket demand will occur during the Christmas holidays, and it recommends booking tickets for that period around 71 days before the departure date.
