Dubai to implement cultural visa initiative

An agreement between two Dubai government entities has been signed to implement the emirate’s cultural visa initiative, this initiative was announced on Wednesday.

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs signed the partnership that stop the “standards and controls” for the issuance of residence permits for artists and entrepreneurs in the cultural industry, officials said in a statement from the emirate’s media office.

Launched in October last year by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the cultural residence visa will be under a new immigration policy that aims to attract promising artists and creatives to Dubai. This visa is set to become the first of its kind in the world.

Having an agreement with the GDRFA comes as part of Dubai Culture’s venture to achieve its aim of strengthening the emirate’s position as a global centre for culture and a thriving hub for talent.
