A 104-year-old woman from Kerala recovers from Covid 19

On June 11, a 104-year-old Kannur woman was discharged from the hospital after successfully battling COVID-19. According to the health department, Janaki Amma’s condition was critical when she was admitted to the government medical college hospital in Pariyaram on May 31.

She was rushed to the medical college ICU from Taliparamba’s dedicated COVID care centre, where she had been admitted earlier due to a significant drop in oxygen levels. Janaki Amma’s daughter-in-law and mother are still being treated for virus infections.

Dr S Ajith, principal-in-charge of Pariyaram Medical College, and other hospital staff wished her well as she left the hospital on Friday, according to a health department statement. Janaki Amma, who had defied the odds despite her age, was greeted by Health Minister Veena George. “Janaki Amma’s confidence at this age inspires all to fight the disease,” she said. The minister also praised the hospital’s doctors, nurses, and other personnel for their contributions to the woman’s recovery from the infection.

According to PTI, health department sources stated that people over the age of 65 are considered high-risk, and her recovery should be viewed in light of this.

The woman responded to the treatment without hesitation after being admitted to the state-run Medical College on August 18, 2020.

Previously, a 105-year-old woman and a 103-year-old returned home after being cured of the infection. Asma Beevi, 105, of Kollam, was released in July 2020 after a successful recovery. A special medical board was monitoring Asma Beevi, who also had other age-related ailments.
