Congress Unveils Generous Pre-Election Promises in Madhya Pradesh: Free Electricity, Affordable LPG, and Student Aid

In the run-up to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the Congress party has rolled out a slew of enticing promises aimed at garnering voter support. These pledges, outlined in their election manifesto titled ‘Vachan Patrika’, were announced by Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath and AICC General Secretary Randeep Surjewala.

Among the key promises made by the Congress party are:

  1. Free Electricity: Households will receive free electricity up to 100 units, a move aimed at easing the burden on consumers and ensuring affordable power supply.
  2. Nari Samman Yojana: Women will benefit from a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,500 under the ‘Nari Samman Yojana’, empowering them economically.
  3. Affordable LPG: The party has pledged to provide LPG cylinders at the subsidized rate of Rs 500, making cooking gas more accessible and affordable for the citizens.
  4. Education Support: The Congress party plans to bolster the education sector by implementing the old pension scheme, offering scholarships for students, and providing financial assistance. This includes Rs 500 per month for students in classes I to VIII, Rs 1000 per month for Class 9 and 10 students, and Rs 1500 per month for Class 11 and 12 students.
  5. Caste Census: If elected, the Congress government promises to conduct a comprehensive caste census, aiming to gather crucial demographic data for effective policy planning.

The election, slated for November 17, will see polling across 230 seats in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Congress has already revealed its list of 144 candidates as it prepares to compete for voter confidence. The results will be unveiled after the counting of votes on December 3, setting the stage for potential changes in the state’s political landscape.
