US Vice President Kamala Harris informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone that India would be given covid vaccine. The US will administer the vaccine to India as part of a plan to distribute 25 million doses of covid vaccine globally.
Kamala Harris has also informed Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez, Guatemala President Ahalandro Jiamati and Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Keith Rowley that the Covid vaccine will be given.
After the telephone conversation with Kamala Harris, the Prime Minister tweeted that he appreciated the decision to hand over the vaccine to India. He also thanked the United States for its support and solidarity in his tweet.
Modi also conveys that they have discussed matters to further strengthen India and US vaccine cooperation.

The US will directly transfer the vaccine to various countries, including India, for six million of the 25 million doses given in the first phase. The United States is planning to distribute 80 million doses of vaccine globally by the end of June
