In a thrilling encounter at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a commanding 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, with Yash Thakur emerging as the star performer. Despite facing an early setback with the injury sidelining Mayank Yadav, Yash Thakur’s impressive pace bowling dismantled the GT batting lineup, securing the win for LSG.
GT began their chase of 164 runs positively, with Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubman Gill forming a solid opening partnership. However, Yash Thakur’s breakthrough wicket of Gill shifted the momentum in LSG’s favor. The LSG spinners, led by Krunal Pandya, further tightened the grip on the game as GT’s batting lineup collapsed from 54/0 to 80/5. Thakur’s exceptional spell of 5/30 ensured LSG’s victory as GT fell short, ending their innings at 130 runs.
Earlier, LSG had opted to bat first, with Umesh Yadav striking early blows by dismissing Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal. However, a crucial partnership between KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis, followed by impactful contributions from Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni, propelled LSG to a competitive total of 163/5, setting the stage for their eventual triumph.
