Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 13,658 new Covid cases on Wednesday, according to a press release from the state health department. With 142 new deaths, the death toll reached 13,235. The test positivity rate was 9.71.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Malappuram – 1610, Thrissur – 1500, Thiruvananthapuram – 1470, Ernakulam – 1448, Palakkad – 1273, Kozhikode – 1254, Kollam – 1245, Alappuzha – 833, Kasaragod – 709, Kannur – 634, Kottayam – 583, Pathanamthitta – 457, Wayanad – 372 and Idukki – 270 .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,40,727 samples were tested. A total of 2,30,73,669 samples were sent for testing, including routine samples, sentinel samples, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, and antigen.
69 new COVID patients were returned from out of state. Through contact, the virus infected 12,833 people. The source of infection for 689 patients has yet to be identified.
