40 cases of Delta Plus variant reported in India

India reports 40 plus  Delta Plus variant cases. Most of them are from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This variant was  first detected in India.

The Union Health Ministry has alerted and advised these states about the Delta Plus variant’s severity . They have categorised the Delta Plus variant as a ‘variant of concern’ and asked states to take immediate action in clusters where the variant has been found.

In an official statement, the Ministry first referred to it as a ‘variant of concern’ then issued a correction calling it a ‘variant of interest’ and then again calling it a ‘variant of concern’
