These are the factors you should consider before receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.

The COVID-19 virus has altered the globe and our way of life. While limiting our outside activities, it has also made us more health-conscious and attentive. The COVID-19 vaccination has undoubtedly provided a ray of hope in these hard times. Covishield, produced by Oxford-AstraZeneca, and Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech International Ltd in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology, are two widely available vaccines in India (NIV)

Both of these vaccinations require two doses in order to defend against the COVID-19 virus by generating antibodies. The majority of people have received their first dosage of the vaccine. Before you take the second dose, there are a few things you should be aware of.

1. You may have experienced side symptoms such as fever, pain, body ache, headache, and so on after receiving your first dosage of the vaccination. It is possible that you will encounter more severe side effects following the second dose.

2. The negative effects of the second dose will most likely subside within 24-72 hours. To effectively deal with the side effects, it is recommended that you get enough of rest, take paracetamol if you have a fever, and drink lots of fluids.

3. Do not go outside or move around without a mask immediately after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. It takes around two weeks for the vaccine to provide protection against the virus. During these two weeks, the person’s immunity is said to be relatively low because the body is busy producing antibodies.

4. To effectively protect yourself against the COVID-19 virus, continue to follow the protocols and safety procedures, such as maintaining social distance, wearing a mask, and practising excellent hand cleanliness.
