Karan Johar has announced a new film based on the lawyer-activist C Sankaran Nair.

Karan Johar, the director, announced on Tuesday that his next project will be based on the life of C Sankaran Nair, the former President of the Indian National Congress and a member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council.

The film, titled “The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair,” is based on true events and is adapted from the book The Case That Shook the Empire, written by Raghu Palat (Sankaran Nair’s great-grandson) and his wife Pushpa Palat.

The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, will tell the storey of Sankaran Nair’s legendary courtroom battle against the British Raj in order to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

We are thrilled and honoured to be bringing the untold storey of C. Sankaran Nair, a historic figure, to the big screen. He wrote that it was directed by @karanstyagi.

The film will be presented by Johar’s Dharma Productions in collaboration with Still & Still Media Collective. The cast of the film has yet to be announced by the producers.

In addition to this film, Johar is producing “Sooryavanshi,” “Brahmastra,” “Dostana 2,” and “Meenakshi Sundareshwar,” as well as the web series “Finding Anamika” starring Madhuri Dixit and season two of “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.”

“Takht,” a period drama starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar, is his next directorial venture.
