How to make home-made garam masala?

Garam masala is a spice blend that is commonly used in Indian cooking. It can be found in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes. Though it is sold in the market under various brand names, we can easily make garam masala at home.

Ingredients:

Black pepper – 2 1/2 teaspoons
Cloves – 6
Cinnamon – 1-inch size
Raw cardamom – 4 grams
Nutmeg mace – 1
Coriander – 4 tablespoons
Fennel seeds – 3 tablespoons
Nutmeg powder – 1 teaspoon

Salt – 1/2 teaspoon

Preparation:

Heat a pan over low heat and fry all of the ingredients together. Then turn off the heat and allow it to cool. Place the ingredients in a mixer grinder and thoroughly grind them. Remove any lumps from the powder by straining it. The masala should then be stored in an airtight container.
