Chingam 1 Arrives, ‘Atham’ Set for Sunday

Today is the first day of Chingam, marking the beginning of the Onam festival. This upcoming Sunday coincides with Vinayaka Chaturthi, also known as ‘Atham’ in the Malayalam calendar. Uthradam falls on August 28th, followed by Thiruvonam on the 29th. The Ramayana month concluded yesterday evening, and special Vinayaka poojas will be conducted in temples this Sunday.

At 2 pm today, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state-level Farmers’ Day event and present awards to farmers at Nishagandhi Auditorium. The event will be presided over by Chairman P Prasad. This occasion will also mark the inauguration of the Kerala Agro Business Company (KABCO) and the launch of the Poshaka Sammridhi Mission, an initiative by the Department of Agriculture aimed at promoting vegetable and small grain cultivation.
