KSRTC Workers to Receive July Salary Before August 22 as per Court Directive

The employees of KSRTC are set to receive their July salaries before August 22, along with bonuses and festival allowances ahead of Onam. This governmental action was prompted by a High Court order mandating salary payment for July by August 25. In a dialogue with recognized trade union leaders, Ministers KN Balagopal, Antony Raju, and V Sivankutty confirmed this decision.

The scheduled strike by CITU, TDF, and BMS leaders for August 26 may be called off if the government fulfills its commitment.

The salaries will be paid in a consolidated manner, with the Finance Department allocating the necessary funds, including the currently sanctioned Rs 30 crore, for disbursement. The ministers have instructed management to determine the required sum for the Onam allowance, an benefit which KSRTC workers missed out on last year.

While unions suggested the government provide advances through loans or overdrafts, the ministers did not promise anything concrete beyond consideration. They mentioned that other matters such as employee transfers could be addressed at a later date. The decision on whether to settle two months of pension arrears remains uncertain. The deliberations at Thycaud Govt guest house extended for a duration of two hours, and representatives from pensioners’ associations were not included in the discussion.
