Ex-soldier found the culprit in the murder of wife after the statements of children turns out crucial. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court found a retired soldier guilty of the murder of his wife. The accused killed his wife while divorce proceedings were still ongoing in court. It was on June 5, 2016, that Kumar(48), retired army personnel, killed his wife Susmitha (36) after stabbing her 21 times. Earlier, the couple decided to separate due to personal differences.

Later, the court left their children, Sandeep and Vaishnavi, both minors, in the custody of their mother. However, Kumar was allowed to see them on Sundays. Susmitha left the children with Kumar on weekends after meeting him at a temple in Nemom. Unfortunately, Kumar stabbed her when she was waiting at the temple for taking the children back to her home. Later, the locals apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The children who witnessed the crime gave statements against Kumar in court. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on Thursday.
