Public protest forces the Kerala Government to reduce penalty

New Delhi : The high penalty recommended in the Motor Vehicle Act to be reduced by the Kerala government to half the amount.

The state Transport minister A. K. Saseendran said that a final decision will be taken on Monday after the arrival of the order by the central government .

He went on to  say that the hefty fine will not be levied and strict action will not be taken until the fine amount is finalized.

Owing to the protest by by public, the state government has decided not to restore the previous fine even if they are allowed to fix the fine amount.

It is considered to levy half the amount of current fine modelling states like Gujarat. A discussion in this regard will be held in the party.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari said the other day that the states can determine the fine. The central government decided in this regard after states like Gujarat reduced the fine to half.
