Concerns Persist as SNC Lavalin Case Faces Prolonged Legal Battles

The Supreme Court has once again postponed the hearing of the SNC Lavalin case, a decade-old legal saga involving Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The case, which centers around the awarding of a contract to Canadian company SNC Lavalin for the renovation of three hydel projects during Vijayan’s tenure as the power minister, has been rescheduled for a final hearing on May 1. The Additional Solicitor General representing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) urged the court to expedite the proceedings. Notably, the case has been listed 33 times across four benches of the apex court over the past six years, posing ongoing challenges for Vijayan.
