“Kudumbashree Launches ‘Lunch Bell’ Initiative: Fresh Office Lunches Delivered”

Kudumbashree, a women’s empowerment and poverty eradication initiative in Kerala, has introduced a novel initiative called ‘Lunch Bell,’ offering the delivery of fresh lunches in steel boxes to various offices. The service will soon be available through Kudumbashree’s dedicated online app, ‘Pocket Mart,’ where orders can be placed. Members of Kudumbashree will handle the lunch delivery, and the steel boxes are expected to be returned after use. The initial launch of the ‘Lunch Bell’ initiative is planned for Thiruvananthapuram district, with later expansions to cover other districts.

To ensure efficient and sustainable operations, a centralized kitchen will be established for food preparation, supervised by experts in food delivery. The initiative emphasizes environmental friendliness, aligning with ‘Green’ practices. Licensed Kudumbashree members or their relatives with two-wheelers will be recruited and trained for the delivery service. The lunch offerings, available for advance booking of at least a month, include non-vegetarian options with egg/fish priced at Rs 99 and vegetarian meals at Rs 60. Customers can choose between Regular and Happy lunch categories based on their preferences.
