Kerala Government’s Decision to Allow Private Universities in State

Thiruvananthapuram: With the aim of rejuvenating the higher education landscape, the Kerala government has opted to grant approval for the establishment of private universities within the state.

A specialized unit, established to oversee the implementation of State Higher Education Reforms, has been entrusted with the responsibility of presenting a comprehensive report outlining the fee structure, reservations, and other essential guidelines pertaining to the functioning of Private Universities.

Following the political stance taken by the CPM in support of introducing private entities into the state’s higher education domain, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has given his endorsement for the higher education department to address this matter.
