Early Earthquake Warning Mobile App developed by Indian Scientist
Scientists from IIT Roorkee has developed India’s first earthquake early warning smartphone app dubbed ‘Uttarakhand Bhookamp Alert’ to alert residents of sudden earthquakes in the region they reside in.
PTI reported that the Uttarakhand Bhookamp app has been developed by IIT Roorkee and has been made available for both iOS and Android . The project was funded by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA).
These kind of app is developed for the first time in India that would alert and notify people about earthquake alerts while also helping in locating people trapped under structures in case the earthquake has occurred.
