Uniform Civil Code Resolution to be Presented in Kerala Assembly, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to Lead Discussion

Tomorrow, a resolution concerning the Uniform Civil Code will be presented in the Legislative Assembly, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan introducing the proposal. The resolution will advocate against the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and is anticipated to receive unanimous approval from the House.

All major political parties, including CPI(M), Congress, Muslim League, and CPI, have previously voiced their opposition to the adoption of a single civil code. In light of this stance, the assembly is taking the step of presenting a resolution to communicate its position to the central government.

In the meantime, the ninth session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly commenced today, addressing a variety of contentious political issues throughout its duration until the 24th of this month. The inaugural day also saw members of the assembly paying their respects to the late Oommen Chandy and Vaikom Purushothaman.
