Hidden CCTV cameras were discovered in school restrooms in Karachi, Pakistan

The Sindh Education Department cancelled the school’s registration after hidden cameras were discovered in Karachi private school washrooms on Friday, from which videos of women were being made.

According to Geo News, the education department has requested that the school administration provide a show-cause notice on the matter. According to an official notification issued by the education department, CCTV cameras were installed covertly in the men’s washroom and a common washroom used by both female teachers and students.

The education department confirmed that women were being filmed with hidden cameras, adding that several women had reported the presence of cameras in the restrooms to the department, according to Geo News.

The school administration, on the other hand, has maintained that the cameras were installed in the restrooms for “monitoring purposes.” According to the education department’s notification, the school’s registration will be suspended until the investigation is completed, according to Geo News.

Regarding the matter, the Federal Investigation Agency`s (FIA) Sindh Cybercrime Zone Head Imran Riaz said that so far, it has not received any complaints regarding the recorded videos.
