Indian Men’s and Women’s 4x400m Relay Teams Qualify for Paris Olympics

The Indian men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams secured their spots in the Paris Olympics after impressive performances at the World Athletics Relays. In the women’s event, the team comprising Rupal Chaudhary, M R Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Subha Venkatesan finished second in their heat with a time of 3 minutes and 29.35 seconds, earning them a ticket to Paris. They were narrowly behind Jamaica, who clocked 3:28.54.

Similarly, the men’s squad, consisting of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob, secured their qualification by finishing second in their heat with a collective time of 3 minutes and 3.23 seconds. They were just behind the USA team, who finished with a time of 2:59.95.

These performances ensured that both Indian relay teams claimed one of the top two spots in their respective heats, securing their berths at the Paris Olympics. Notably, this achievement adds to India’s tally of track and field athletes heading to Paris, which includes renowned athletes like Neeraj Chopra, the defending javelin throw champion.

The athletics events at the Paris Olympics are set to commence on August 1, offering an exciting platform for Indian athletes to showcase their talent on the global stage.
