Heatwave Warning in Kerala as Temperature Set to Soar by 4°C, Yellow Alert Issued

Kerala is bracing for a heatwave as a high-temperature warning has been issued in four districts on Saturday. The Central Meteorological Center has highlighted that the heat is expected to intensify in Kannur, Kozhikode, Kottayam, and Alappuzha districts. The State Disaster Management Authority has issued cautionary instructions to the public, emphasizing the severity of the situation. Kannur district is anticipated to experience the most extreme conditions, with temperatures soaring to 38 degrees Celsius, while Kottayam may reach 37 degrees Celsius, and Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts could witness temperatures of around 36 degrees Celsius. The warning suggests that temperatures may rise up to four degrees Celsius above the normal range in the coming week, prompting authorities to advise preventive measures such as avoiding direct sunlight from 11 am to 3 pm, staying hydrated, and using light-colored cotton clothes.

As the heatwave warning looms over Kerala, residents are urged to take precautions to mitigate the impact of the rising temperatures. The preventive measures recommended include avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours, maintaining hydration even when not thirsty, refraining from alcohol, tea, coffee, and soft drinks, opting for light-colored cotton clothes, and ensuring the use of appropriate footwear. The situation emphasizes the need for public awareness and preparedness to tackle the heatwave conditions and minimize potential health risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
