Air quality in Delhi and Noida remains ‘poor,’ with the capital’s overall AQI standing at 290

New Delhi’s air quality remained ‘poor’ for the second consecutive day on Monday (December 20, 2021), with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 290.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), PM 2.5 and PM 10 concentrations were 101 in the ‘poor’ category and 181 in the’moderate’ category, respectively.

On the other hand, the air quality in Noida remains ‘poor,’ and the air quality in Gurugram has slipped to ‘poor.’ While Noida had an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 293, Gurugram had an AQI of 225 today.

According to government agencies, an AQI of zero to 50 is considered ‘good,’ 51 to 100’satisfactory,’ 101 to 200’moderate,’ 201 to 300 ‘poor,’ 301 to 400’very poor,’ and 401 to 500’severe.’

Notably, following a review meeting earlier this week, the Delhi government has extended the ban on the entry of non-essential trucks into the national capital until further orders.

However, schools in the national capital reopened for classes 6 and above on Saturday, following approval from the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM).
