Kerala Proud: Major Nikitha A Nair Stands with Prime Minister in Red Fort Flag Hoisting

A moment of great pride for the state of Kerala as Major Nikitha A Nair, a Malayali woman, stood alongside the Prime Minister during the flag hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort. Nikitha’s mother, Deepika Nair, shared her happiness and revealed that she was initially surprised when Nikitha expressed her desire to join the army, but fully supported her decision.

Deepika Nair was present at the Red Fort to witness this significant event, which filled all Malayalis with pride. On Independence Day, Nikitha and another female officer named Jasmine Kaur accompanied the Prime Minister in raising the national flag. Major Nikhitha A Nair comes from the lineage of Arumana Ammaveedu in Kottaykkakam, and her relatives from the same family watched the event live on TV. Kizhakkemadam Pratap, a family member, expressed their excitement.

Nikitha’s mother, Deepika Nair, is the daughter of the late Venugopalan Thambi from the Ammaveedu family. Nikitha’s father, the late Ajith Nair, was an employee at Kodak Film Company. Born in Mumbai in 1992, Nikitha spent her childhood and received education in Bengaluru and Pune. In addition to being a Bharatanatyam dancer, she also held the title of Miss Pune 2013.

After completing her psychology degree, Nikitha joined the army in 2016 and underwent training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, commencing her service as a lieutenant.
