Renault to eliminate 1,500 engineering jobs in France
Renault ,French carmaker plans to cut 1,500 engineering jobs in France, told trade union source to Reuters on Tuesday.
The engineering job cuts are part of cost savings strategies that Renault announced last month to find 2 billion euros ($2.27 billion) in savings over the coming three years.
Renault declined to comment.
“The difficulties encountered by the group, the major crisis facing the automotive industry and the urgency of the ecological transition are all imperatives that are driving the company to accelerate its transformation,” the statement said.
The company had planned to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide, including 4,600 in France.
