UK records over 2 lakh daily COVID-19 cases for first time since start of pandemic

London: In the most recent 24-hour period, the United Kingdom reported 2,18,724 COVID-19 cases, surpassing 2,00,000 daily cases for the first time since the pandemic began on Tuesday.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 13,641,520.

There were also 48 more coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the UK to 148,941, with 14,126 COVID-19 patients still in hospitals.

On Tuesday, the British Health Secretary said that there is currently no evidence to suggest that Britain should abandon Plan B, which includes work-from-home guidelines and the use of face masks in most public indoor venues.
