Kerala High Court Directs Government to Provide Support to Sabarimala Pilgrims

The Kerala High Court has issued directives to the authorities to ensure necessary support and facilities for Sabarimala pilgrims, addressing concerns related to overcrowding, cleanliness, and amenities. The court instructed the state police to control the rush at the hilltop shrine, prevent overcrowding in the queue complex, and maintain cleanliness. The Travancore Devaswom Board was directed to explore the provision of drinking water and biscuits for pilgrims, with possible assistance from NSS volunteers or local self-government institutions. The court emphasized the deployment of sufficient security personnel at parking grounds and urged additional facilities for pilgrims, including children. The hearing will continue to address complaints regarding amenities and safety measures at Sabarimala.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that there were no unusual incidents at the Lord Ayyappa temple this time and urged officials to inform the public about new arrangements and systems implemented. The government aims to enhance security, amenities, and crowd control measures to ensure a smoother pilgrimage experience at Sabarimala, a significant religious tourism destination in Kerala.
