Luxury on the Rails: Saudi Arabia Introduces ‘Dream of the Desert

Saudi Arabia is set to introduce the Middle East’s inaugural luxury train, named ‘Dream of the Desert,’ promising travelers an unparalleled experience reminiscent of iconic trains like the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and the Royal Scotsman. This opulent train will traverse 800 miles from Riyadh to the Jordanian border, offering passengers a journey through breathtaking deserts and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Stops along the route include the historic city of Ha’il and the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Natural Reserve, culminating in Al-Qurayat near the Jordan border. Reservations for the train are slated to open in late 2024, with the maiden voyage scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

In collaboration with the Italian hospitality company Arsenale Group, the Saudi Arabia Railways is bringing ‘Dream of the Desert’ to life, aiming to accommodate 82 passengers across 40 carriages equipped with luxurious amenities such as a gourmet restaurant, lounge bar, and sleeping quarters. This ambitious project not only offers tourists a unique travel experience but also underscores Saudi Arabia’s dedication to showcasing its rich cultural heritage and welcoming visitors from around the globe. By launching this luxury train, Saudi Arabia is embarking on a new journey to bolster its tourism sector and attract foreign investment, symbolizing its commitment to global engagement and hospitality.
