Tragic Turn: Death Toll Rises to Three in Kalamassery Explosion, Including 12-Year-Old Victim
In a devastating update on the Kalamassery explosion incident, the death toll has tragically risen to three, with 51 individuals sustaining injuries. Among the victims, a 12-year-old girl named Libina, who had been undergoing treatment, has succumbed to her injuries. Libina, hailing from Malayattoor, tragically breathed her last around 1:30 AM while being on a ventilator, marking a heart-wrenching turn in the unfolding events.
The police have confirmed the involvement of an individual named Martin Dominic (57) in the blast. Dominic claims affiliation with the Jehovah’s Witnesses religious group. He was residing in a rented accommodation in Thammanam, Kochi. A video purportedly released by Martin confessing to the Kalamassery explosions had circulated on social media. In the video, he stated his 16-year-long association with the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Law enforcement authorities have recovered the remote control used for the explosion from the place where the accused lived. Dominic is currently undergoing interrogation and has been charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) among other charges.
The victims of this tragic incident have been identified as Leona Paulose (55), Kumari (52), and the young Libina (12). They hailed from Perumbavoor, Thodupuzha, and Malayattoor, respectively, adding a somber note to the devastating incident that has left the community in shock and mourning.
