Sara George Muthoot Makes History as First Kerala Woman Included in Forbes World’s Billionaires List

For the first time in history, a Malayali woman has secured her place in the prestigious Forbes list of billionaires. Sara George Muthoot’s inclusion in the Forbes World’s Billionaires List – 2024 marks a significant milestone for Kerala.

Joining a notable cohort of 12 Malayalis on the list, Sara George Muthoot stands out as the first and only Malayali woman to be featured in this esteemed ranking. Among them, MA Yusuf Ali of the LuLu Group holds the top spot as the richest Malayali, climbing to an impressive rank of 344 globally, up from his previous position at 497.

MA Yusuf Ali’s net worth stands at a staggering $760 crore (approximately Rs 63,080 crore), reflecting a notable increase from the previous year’s reported $710 crore. Other prominent names on the list include Joy Alukkas, Dr. Shamshir Vayalail, Ravi Pillai, and Sunny Varkey, all contributing to Kerala’s representation in the world of wealth.

Joy Alukkas boasts assets worth $440 crore (Rs 36,520 crore), followed closely by Dr. Shamshir Vayalil with $350 crore (Rs 29,050 crore), and Ravi Pillai and Sunny Varkey with $330 crore (Rs 27,390 crore) each.

The Forbes list also features notable individuals like TS Kalyana Raman, SD Shibulal, Kochouseph Chittilappilly, George Alexander Muthoot, George Jacob Muthoot, and Sara George Muthoot, each with significant wealth contributions.

At the global level, Bernard Arnault leads the pack as the wealthiest individual worldwide, with assets valued at a staggering $23,300 crore. Elon Musk of SpaceX and Jeff Bezos of Amazon closely follow, with Mark Zuckerberg of Meta Platforms securing the fourth spot. In India, Mukesh Ambani ranks ninth with a net worth of $11,600 crore (Rs 9.6 lakh crore), while Gautam Adavi holds the 17th position with a net worth of $8400 crore (Rs 6.9 lakh crore).

Sara George Muthoot’s historic inclusion in the Forbes list underscores the growing influence and contribution of women in Kerala’s economic landscape, paving the way for greater gender diversity and representation in the world of wealth and success.
