PM Modi Commends Malabar Milma’s Veterinary Medicine Development in Mann Ki Baat

During the 104th edition of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the Malabar Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (MRCMPU), also known as Malabar Milma, for its noteworthy contributions. He specifically praised the union for its innovative efforts in developing Ayurvedic medicines to treat animal diseases. Malabar Milma’s focus on Ethno Veterinary Medicine (EVM) has yielded positive results, with many Kerala farmers experiencing the benefits of these medicines. The union distributes these drugs to farmers through societies, not only reducing treatment costs but also positively impacting milk quality. Recently, Malabar Milma gained attention for producing the highest quality milk in the country. This achievement was determined through a method involving the Methylene Blue dye Reduction Test (MBRT), which assesses the microbial load in milk. The impressive results, with an average MBRT of 204 minutes in the fiscal year 2021-22, indicate the superior quality of milk from the Malabar region.
