Extended Rainfall Expected in Kerala Until October 2; Yellow Alerts Issued for Multiple Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that Kerala will experience intermittent rainfall until October 2, attributable to the influence of cyclonic circulations originating from the Bay of Bengal.

In response to this weather outlook, yellow alerts have been issued for various districts within the state, spanning Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. These districts include:

  • Thursday: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod
  • Friday: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod
  • Saturday: All districts situated to the north of Ernakulam

The IMD further predicts the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the northern Andaman Sea by Friday, with the potential to intensify into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours. Following this development, it is anticipated to move in a west-northwestward direction, potentially experiencing gradual intensification.
