Mild Earthquake Rattles UAE; No Damages Reported

In the early hours at 6:15 a.m. local time, the UAE experienced a minor earthquake measuring 1.6 in magnitude, with its epicenter located in the Dibba region of Fujairah. Despite the slight tremors felt by residents, there were no damages reported, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM). The earthquake occurred at a depth of five kilometers below ground level.

Residents in the Dibba area reported feeling the tremors, although authorities swiftly reassured the public that there was no cause for concern. Khalifa Al Ebri, the Director of the Seismology Department, emphasized that people residing in the UAE need not fear earthquakes as such low-intensity seismic activities occur only a few times a year. These minor tremors, often undetected by residents, are monitored through advanced sensors.

In a separate incident, Afghanistan experienced a more significant earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 in the Herat province, located in western Afghanistan. This seismic event follows a devastating earthquake just four days ago, which tragically claimed the lives of over 2,000 people in the region where approximately 500,000 people reside.
